Hosted by China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), the Ministry of Transport (MOT), and Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), organized by China Highway & Transportation Society (CHTS), and co-organized by transport S&T organizations at home and abroad, the World Transport Convention 2018, on the basis of the successful World Transport Convention 2017, was scheduled to convene in Beijing from June 18 to 21 to display the achievements of technological innovation in transport construction, promote the construction of the comprehensive transport system, deepen the “Belt and Road” infrastructure interconnection, and promote the integrated development of the transport technologies across the world.

WTC is a global platform for exchanging ideas in nurturing, promoting, showcasing, and implementing innovations. It is of great practical significance and profound historical significance to further promote the technological exchange and cooperation in the international transport field, facilitate the international transport infrastructure interconnection in the “Belt and Road Initiative,” and advance the development capacity of China’s transport field, as well as boost the development of the world transport.

Themed with “Better Transport, Better World,” WTC2018 features the technical sessions, industry exhibits, special forums, and awards ceremonies. WTC2018 is highlighted with six major parts, namely, the opening ceremony and keynote speeches, the “Belt and Road” International Transport Seminar, technical forums and sessions, transport science and technology expo, the 2018 World College Students Bridge Design Competition, and WTC special initiatives and events from the WTC think tank.

Thanks to the vigorous support and hard work of the leadership and management at various levels and the staff of hosts, supporters, organizers, and co-organizers, as well as the assistance from relevant international organizations, the preparation of the convention has gone smoothly and received a wide response from the transport communities both in China and abroad.
